PYROmaster Studios was started in 2014 by Phil McIver, after having had the idea for the company for a few years, and doing sound and lighting work under the name.

The idea behind the name was that PYROmaster Studios would become a specialist pyrotechnics and effects company. While some effects are easily achieveable for us, the aspiration of full pyrotechnic shows has fell be the wayside – partly due to the time and money needed to invest in the company to ensure that it is all done safely, but also in recent years we have noticed that people are becoming much more sesitive to these effects, and so to not cause undue stress we are keeping to the ‘safe’ effects for now – such as haze, snow, confetti, bubbles, etc etc.

Phil started taking an interest in the technical side of theatre in secondary school, being part of the stage crew team in the later years and at the local stage school.

Over the years we have supported sound and lighting for various local amatur dramatics groups and provided a simple DJ disco setup, to, unique outdoor event setup and technical support in professional theatres.

PYROmaster Studios are happy to provide sound and lighting for the small am-dram groups as this is where the love for the backstage all started. We understand that these shows are not flush with cash and will do our best to provide what you need while still working to your budget.

Equally we love it when we can get into a professional theatre and work on something big – even though this is our speciality, we will never confess to know everything and always have our mind open to learning from our peers in the industry!
